Wimbledon Village, London
The design onset was to retain the classic Victorian facade by “facelifting “ the architectural elements and extending the living room space out to the landscape with a minimal-modern structure with curved sliding glazing to be fully open to the outdoor terrace. The new modern extension is conceived as a private art gallery while also providing domestic spaces with uninterrupted views to the surrounding garden and infinity pool. The owners’ collection includes works by several well known contemporary artists creat...ing a compelling new focal point for the approach and entry to the property. A new staircase was to connect the upper floor garden through a glass staircase with metal structure. From the entry all the walls are designed as a modern-minimal New York style Art Gallery that flows organically with the rest of the Victorian rear facade.
